| SABRA (Hebrew for calm & peaceful) was found laying on her side, on the side of the road, dehydrated and near death, in Bisbee, AZ. A vet tech for a local clinic saw and picked her up and brought her to work.
After a medical once-over and some fluids, Cyndi, a foster volunteer with Border Animal Rescue, took her home and contacted us for some help. Sabra was first described as very tender to the touch, scared and submissive. She was uncertain and tentative.
We sent our Sierra Vista volunteer Bridget over for a preliminary evaluation. By then, Sabra had relaxed and wasn't so ouchy. Bridgette felt that we could find a good home for this deserving coated purebred, so we've kept in touch with her current foster as we made arrangements for her to have a full work-up with a veterinarian in the area.
Sabra will have an exam, full blood panel, fecal, chest film and Rabies sho in Bisbeet. Once we know if she needs to be treated for anything, her spay will follow. A staff member has not put an age on her yet..until we can, we're guessing around 3-4 years old. She's come out of her shell and been described as friendly and gentle with both people and other dogs. She has clearly demonstrated her affinity for being an indoor part of the pack as can be seen by the smile on her face.
