| Susie-Q, whose name was changed to "Sadie" by her current owner, was adopted nearly two years ago by a single woman living alone with the knowledge that Sadie was afraid of men.
She does fine in public, at events and outdoors, but is fearful of them when on her property and particularly inside the house.
It really wasn't much of a problem until the ex-husband started spending more time in Sadie's home. She even nipped him on the ankle early on; she tolerates and stays clear of most men yet Sadie clearly does not like this man and nothing tried has worked.
Her current owner took her through the obedience class we referred her to and socialized her quite a bit and while initially a little shy, has done great. BUT, guess who is moving back in with her Mom? So the ex-husband wins and Sadie loses her home. Here's a link to her original bio from 2009..a time from which she has moved forward in every respect except this one (includes videos of her intro to kitties and the wading pool shortly after rescue). Sadie will be re-evaluated, hopefully the weekend of March 19th and an update will follow.
UPDATE 3/20: Sadie is now about four years old, is crate and house trained, good on leash and well socialized. She is still on the skittish side and requires slow and proper introductions. She knows her basics and will do best with a patient adult in a calm environment, and OK with another (male) dog and/or cat. She is a sweet gal, friendly once she can check you out. It is our custom to place only confident dogs with children, as fearful dogs can be unpredictable. Susie Q will only be placed in an adult home. UPDATE 3/29: Susie's Mom is having some medical issues which make it difficult to manage the two females on the property together, etc. Her time is growing short. Susie needs a place to go and call home. She's a good girl, she simply has a mystery history with some men...oh to be a fly on the wall during her early years...and she needs time to warm up to strangers. Other than that, she knows her commands, is loving and playful, good on leash, house and crate trained...and pretty too! Susie Q needs our help SOON! UPDATE 4/2:
Susie was posted for re-homing a year ago and still has not found "forever" She and the other female, as is frequently the case with GSDs, have gotten into another recent fight and both have some minor wounds. Her Mom has given us an ultimatum; Susie is close to being out of time. Adoption fee $195.00.
