RYDER IN A NUTSHELL: A boisterous youngster with a super temperament but absolutely no training. He gets along well with the other dogs in his temporary foster home. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Ryder was spotted by our Facebook angel, Kathy J, in early October. When she inquired, she was told, "... appears healthy and exhibits adoptable behavior. On the adoption floor and kenneled with another dog." We were also provided with this video.
We committed to taking Ryder on October 2nd, but it wasn't until October 13th that he was finally released from the shelter into the waiting arms of Chuck and Jon from Husky Camp.
UPDATE 12/20: Thanks to Chuck and Jon from Husky Camp, Ryder is in the house!!
When we first laid eyes on Ryker our immediate thought was, "Pictures do not do this gorgeous boy justice!" It's obvious he's not led an easy life, nor has he been well taken care of, but he's a beautiful boy. Whoever falls in love with this hunk is definitely going to have some training to do. UPDATE 12/30: We have discovered that Ryder likes to wrestle AND play ball. He's not so keen on giving the ball back once he brings it to you, but if you have a second one (or a knotted rope), he's game!
After so many days of rain, Ryder and Raegan enjoyed some playtime on the grass -- Ryder was perfectly OK with a "takedown" by Raegan. His play was completely appropriate with the slightly smaller (and bossier) Raegan. UPDATE 1/4: In order to make room for Ghost, we moved Ryder over to Doggie District this afternoon, where manager, Kelly, made him feel right at home by offering him some treats.
UPDATE 3/3: Ryder was evaluated by trainer Lynn at Soldier's Best Friend this afternoon.
After the evaluation, which amazingly was done on a loose lead and buckle collar, Ryder was accepted into the Soldier's Best Friend program pending his physical exam. We hope that this youngster has found his calling. Adoption fee $375.00.
