|Ranger is another California refugee. We first saw a post about him in mid-April with the notation, "Well, his owners apparently felt dumping him in a kill shelter would make their lives better...how nice for them." We were curious and had to send someone to meet him.
Leslie went to get the video and emailed, “Hi ..., here are two videos of A1432880. They are not the best, the dog seemed a little bit depressed, or at least recognized quickly that there was nothing to see here and laid back down. A beautiful dog, though. And seemed to get along just fine with the cage mate. Very gentle.” (On a side note, we did find out that the black male shepherd that appears in the video caged with Ranger was also surrendered by the same family on the same day.)
Our thanks to April, for pulling this sweet boy, and to Tera, for picking him up and transporting him to freedom!
Ranger is now safe at Crossroads where he will remain until transport on May 6th. According to the folks at Crossroads, "Joe said he is very sweet. A tiny bit submissive but not bad."
UPDATE 5/5: Ranger was picked up at Crossroads today by Chuck and Jon. He will be spending the night at Husky Camp Rescue in preparation for his transport to Phoenix in the morning. According to Chuck, "He's very cute, ...."
UPDATE 5/6: Ranger has arrived in Phoenix! He appears to be a wonderful car rider and is now sound sleep on the floor of his foster mom's office (on the cool stone floor -- smart boy). One of the cats came up and introduced herself, and Ranger was very polite with her, so we're going to say he's "cat tested and approved."
It was too hot in Phoenix to take our usual outdoor "arrival" photos, so we'll try for those tomorrow. Right now, our boy just needs some rest, and later on a good dinner. It's been a very long day...
