| Well, the economy strikes again.
One of our favorite foster-adopter-transport pilots has become a victim; loss of job, home & divorce has driven Ro & Gina's Dad out of the country for work. And that leaves this bonded pair homeless.
While we usually prefer to separate most "roommates", we would really like to see them stay together if possible; Gina is a senior and would do best transitioning with her main squeeze Rohan.
Gina is believed to be around 10.5 years old, healthy and gorgeous; a large, substantial female. She was rescued from the Humane Society two and half years ago and has shared her home with Rohan since then.
Both dogs are altered, chipped and vaccinated. And both are in immediate need of a foster or forever home. Neither has lived with kids so teenagers only please. Rohan does cats, Gina does not. They are dog friendly and socialized, however, would prefer no other dogs in their new home. They both have classic GSD temperaments; outgoing, people oriented, prefer the company of canines of the opposite sex. Once bonded they will be protective of their property and pack. UPDATE 8/8: While we weren't able to keep these beauties together...Rohan's adoption is pending...we did manage to place Gina in foster care today..so she is safe. We would, however, like to see her in a last-stop home so that she can settle in and be secure. She will do fine with another large breed male but no kitties and would prefer someone who is home a great deal of the time. She's a stunning easy keeper. She jumped right in our truck from four feet away with ease. Perhaps she's younger than we thought?
UPDATE 8/27:
Our big beauty is slowly losing weight and perking up. Initially she was depressed and mopey having lost the two major men in her life, Rohan & Dad. We also noticed some swelling on her hock joint and a little bump in her upper jaw. Fearing cancer we took her into the vet last week and had everything examined and biopsied. Gina weighed in at 101 pounds..we're shooting for around 95-96lbs; her waistline is already starting to return.
She has now resumed her walks and will happily roll over on command which must be accompanied by a belly rub. The tail has resumed wagging and so has her very affectionate nature. Gina Adoption Fee $75.00.
