CORY

2/28: Cory was picked up at large with Dave; we put our name on her and waited the allotted time for any owner to claim her which has not happened. She will be checked tomorrow to try to ascertain if she needs to be spayed. We know that she is very friendly, estimated to be between 3 and 5 years old, walks very well on lead, sits, downs and is a 'ball nut'

We must get her into a foster home before she gets sick from being in a shelter environment. She is a very pretty, large solid black lady with a nice disposition.

UPDATE 3/4: Cory was spayed on Monday and is recuperating at Camp Ginger. She has been described as sound and even tempered...a great dog for a variety of settings. She is a very big gal, thin at 86lbs and will be a 90-pounder. As with most, she obviously lacked formal training..she's currently being crate trained and taught not to jump in the front seat of a moving vehicle. Other than general socialization, she's an outgoing lady doing well with other dogs and on leash.

The foster process provides us with the opportunity to learn about these dogs in a real home setting; so until we have that opportunity, we can't speak to kids, house manners, etc. It's just not something one can get a "good read" on in a shelter or multi-dog environment.

We've put her age at 4 years. She is vaccinated, spayed, chipped and will be ready to meet her public by this coming weekend. She can be shown in Tucson or in Phoenix with ample notice.

If you are interested in fostering Cory, please read about OUR FOSTER PROGRAM and submit a Foster Application (found on the Foster Program page).

UPDATE 4/19: This very pretty lady spent all day Sunday at the trials and showed us what a great ambassador for the breed she is; she did very well with the chaos and crowds, loved the attention from children of all sizes and mingled well with all of the visiting canines. She stayed quietly in her crate during rest periods and was ready for action each time she was shown.

Cory is a friendly, happy dog..knows shake, sit and down..a little exuberant when excited which ongoing socialization will temper. She was appropriate with ill mannered dogs in her face yet it is clear that, in classic GSD fashion, she will stand her ground if challenged. She could use a bit more meat on her bones which will happen quickly once in a home setting.

A basic obedience class and regular walks will turn this black beauty into the perfect family companion.
